TT Club, the transport insurance provider, has announced the appointment of Mike Foster to the new position of claims director, responsible for claims management worldwide. Until recently, the Club has been managing claims on a regional basis reporting to senior executives in London. Mr Foster was formerly head of the UK and Irish business unit, a position he held since 2002.

Mr Foster is a well-known figure in transport insurance circles, having joined the TT Club’s managers, Thomas Miller & Co, as a claims executive in 1995 after ten years as an insurance (claims) broker. He was previously the insurance manager of a freight forwarding and transport company.

Colin Lewin, TT Club’s chief operating officer, said: “In our reshaped management structure the claims director is responsible for global claims policy and achievement of our claims performance indicators. While TT’s regional claims offices will continue to handle all member’s claims at a local level, Mike will lead the formulation and overall execution of claims policy within an effective and efficient control environment.”

“Mike’s years in the industry and deep understanding of the insurance needs of our members make him well qualified to take on this demanding role,” added Mr Lewin.

In addition to claims policy, as claims director Mr Foster takes charge of significant elements of TT Club’s performance against its business plan, including the system of claims controls, continuing professional training and development of claims executives, and the implementation of TT Club’s major incident response capability.
