Four regional finalists representing the future of the freight forwarding industry are preparing to travel to Moscow in September to attend the FIATA World Congress. The four, from Canada, Egypt, Indonesia and the Russian Federation, will each be hoping for selection as the overall Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year and a prize that includes hands-on training experience at one of TT Club’s regional centres in London, Hong Kong or New Jersey.

Now in its seventh year, the Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year Award is recognition by FIATA and the participating sponsors of the need to develop quality in the industry and to reward young talent with valuable training opportunities. TT Club has been a sponsor of the award since its inception and firmly believes in its importance.

TT Club’s marketing director, Ian Lush commented: “We are delighted to continue partnering FIATA through our sponsorship of this award. TT Club is well known around the world for the emphasis it places not only on efficient claims handling but also on sound loss prevention advice. Obviously we hope that the international winners who come to us for training will return to their employers with a greater understanding of the nature of risk in the supply chain and the importance of managing it effectively.”

The award principally consists of a mixture of practical and academic training, including two weeks practical training based at one of the TT Club’s regional centres in London, Hong Kong or New Jersey, as well as week-long courses at an IATA training centre and on transport law and insurance in London. The cost of travel and accommodation is borne by the sponsors in addition to the training costs.

Commending the quality of their dissertations as “extremely high”, FIATA has announced the regional finalists as:

Region Africa/Middle East : Ms Dalia Moussa (Egypt)
Region Americas : Ms Alicia Chin (Canada)
Region Asia/Pacific : Mr Adiyanto Thaib (Indonesia)
Region Europe : Ms Anna Altshul (Russian Federation)
