At the British International Freight Association (BIFA) Annual Awards Lunch in London last week, the global freight insurance specialist, TT Club was itself presented with an honorary award in recognition of the Club's twenty-five year support of the event. In addition the Club sponsored the European Logistics Award and played its part in selecting the winner from a wide-range of entries.

Following the usual biennial cycle, the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code has been updated and amended. This latest version, Amendment 37-14, enters transitional effect from 1 January 2015, meaning that stakeholders may start using the revised provisions. Last week saw the International Maritime Organization's Maritime Safety Committee (IMO MSC) finalise work on two measures that are significant for standards of safety in the unit load industry, be it maritime or land-based. International transport insurance provider, TT Club however, believes that while the IMO's recent actions are significant, they are but two stakes that begin to mark out the ground for what needs to done in developing safety throughout the supply chain.

Leading freight transport insurer, TT Club, has announced its support for a unique learning initiative - Business on the Move. The educational tool takes the form of a board game which is designed to be played at varying levels of complexity. Consequently, it is suitable for primary and secondary school children as well as higher education students, management trainees and corporate continuous development schemes. TT Club sees the initiative as an imaginative means to educate and inspire young people in the UK, motivating an interest in and comprehension of modern supply chains and the transport resources that service them.

Speaking at TOC Europe's Container Supply Chain Conference in London, freight insurance specialist TT Club's Mike Yarwood has warned of the increasing dangers posed by 'cyber-criminals' targeting carriers, ports, terminals and other transport operators. Examples of computer hacking affecting organisations, companies and individuals are numerous. Data and information used to focus on high value cargo and susceptible loads.
