Safe Parking with Sara Fisher, The British Parking Association
The British Parking Assocation has operated the Safer Parking Scheme - an official Police crime prevention inititaive - for over twenty years, with more than 4,500 car parks in the UK registered as safe under this scheme. Observing this success, the BPA was approached by the freight sector to evolve this scheme in order to develop a new standard of safety for the freight sector and freight parking.
Working with industry bodies and policing units, specifically NaVCIS, to further understand the scale of the problem and to analyse crime data and geographical hotspots, the BPA launched Park Mark Freight in late 2022. For parking areas to achieve this accreditation involves following a stringent set of requirements - or as Sara Fisher, Head of Operations & Business Development puts it, a recipe for success.
From working with the police to design out crime and 'mystery-shopping' freight parking facilities to requiring demonstrable evidence from parking operators that crime has reduced, listen as Sara and Josh discuss the unique edge that Park Mark Freight offers to combat freight crime.
