The PEMA Student Challenge Question 2018
- Location: Rotterdam
- Date: 14/06/2018
The Port Equipment Manufacturing Association (PEMA) Student Challenge question for 2018 was recently announced. This years’ theme, environmental challenge and productivity at ports, focuses heavily on-air quality and the reduction of CO2 emissions at terminals, and will challenge teams to draw on existing technologies to present a sustainable yet economically competitive solution.
The PEMA Student Challenge has been running for several years to promote the ports industry in Universities. It is the only competition of its kind within the Ports and Terminals industry and is open to university students globally. Each year the question focuses on a topical theme from the industry and challenges students to develop a solution. In the first stage of the competition, teams are requested to submit a two page preliminary abstract, outlining their solution.
As tradition, there is a prize of €1,000 for the winning team, and the top three teams will be invited to present their solution at the Student Challenge Final, hosted live at TOC Europe in Rotterdam on 14thJune. The lucky finalists will also have the opportunity to attend the TOC and network with industry professionals who will judge the event.
TT Club, PEMA and ICHCA have worked closely for many years and have produced a number of joint safety publications.
