AM Best, the financial ratings agency, has upgraded the TT Club's rating to B++ (Very Good) after its recent review of the insurer's performance.

TT Club reduces estimates of 'Maemi' claims

TT Club, a leading transport insurance provider, has confirmed that its latest assessment of claims resulting from Typhoon Maemi, the devastating storm that hit South Korea on 26 September, is substantially reduced from the initial estimates of US$40-50 million, with the likely level of claims faced by the mutual not expected to exceed US$25 million.
TT Club appoints Kemp to Asia-Pac

TT Club, a leading provider of insurance and risk management services to the international transport and logistics industry, has announced that senior underwriter Andrew Kemp is transferring from London to Singapore. From 1st August 2003 he takes up the new position of Regional Underwriting Manager for the Asia-Pacific region, while also retaining responsibility for the Club's Indian Subcontinent business.
This prestigious Award - sponsored by the TT Club, FIATA, and IATA - has just completed its fifth successful year. It is aimed at encouraging training in forwarding and enlarging the professional experience of the candidates. The Award is open to young freight forwarders whose age will not be greater than 30 in the competition year and they must have been working full-time in forwarding for at least two years.

AM Best strengthens TT Club's rating

AM Best has revised the outlook of TT Club's rating (Through Transport Mutual Insurance Association Ltd) following a review of its performance since May this year when the Club reported its 2001 loss of US$40m including a strengthening of claims reserves of US$23m.
At the recent Security Matters Seminar, held in London, sponsored by TT Club and organised by the publishers of Cargo Systems magazine, there was lively discussion focussing on the imminent US Customs 24 Hour Manifest Rule and the IMO's amendments to Chapter XI of its Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention, which are due to be ratified next month. It fell to TT's European Loss Prevention manager Andrew Webster to discuss the cost implications for European ports as a result of these additional security demands.
